Donations of gently used, clean books are accepted at the library. The Lane Library also appreciates donations of clean, unscratched, and in the case DVD’s, Blu-rays, and video games. The library does not take donations of items that are dirty, musty, moldy, torn, or in poor condition. The library does not accept donations of dictionaries, encyclopedias, textbooks, Reader’s Digest condensed volumes, VHS tapes or loose discs without the original case. The library also does not accept donations of toys or puzzles.
Donations should not be left at the library when the library is closed. It is the donor’s responsibility to make appropriate arrangements to transport and bring items inside the library. The library does have a dolly and book cart that may be accessed for bringing items inside. Donors are requested to notify the library ahead of time if they will be donating more then 1 box of items. Please consider bringing your donations boxed.
The Friends of the Lane Memorial Library is a volunteer, non-profit organization. They accept donations through the library based on time available for processing, availability of space, suitability of format, community interest, and physical condition of the item. Items not kept by the Friends are either processed for disposal or donated to other organizations that utilize book donations.
