The Merrimack Valley Quilters will be graciously lending their quilts to display as a collection of storybook quilts at the Lane Memorial Library during the weeks of November 10th and 17th. These quilts are based in stories that are part of the library’s collection.
To celebrate the beauty of the fabric art, there will be several programs held at the library. Two “quilt” story times for children on November 20th, one will be at 9:30 AM and another at 1:00 PM. Many wonderful children’s books have been written with the quilt theme and some will be shared during these times. Please call the library at 926-4729 for registration and further information.
Also that week, there will be a Quilting Class for children ages 9-99. A lesson will be offered on hand quilting with time to try it out with a simple 9-patch. Registration is a must! Please call the Children’s Room at the library at 926-4729 for information and sign ups.
To further celebrate the art of quilting, on Thursday evening, November 20th at 6:00 PM, there will be a lecture:” New England Quilts, 1780- 1890" with Betsey Telford of Rocky Mountain Quilts. This is sponsored jointly by Lane Memorial Library and Hampton Historical Society. Call 926- 3368 to sign up to have your pre-1950 quilt appraised by Betsey (first five to call get to have the appraisal!).Sign up to be in the lottery for quilt appraisal. Anyone interested must register for this program.
