July 21, 2003

As our summer reading program at Lane Memorial Library is winding down, one of the best programs for 8 – 10 year olds is about to happen. Marie Harris, author of G is for Granite and poet laureate of the state of New Hampshire, will be holding a writing workshop on July 31, 2003.

Participants will leave with something written by themselves, but with the guidance of someone who has published many books. They will also leave with the experience that will last a lifetime.

Marie has written four books of poetry and has edited poetry anthologies, but by far, the most popular of her works is G is for Granite. The Lane Memorial Library has several copies of her book, but few are in on the shelf. The New Hampshire Library Association has purchased one copy of this book for every public library in the state in honor of the State Legislature and many schools will be including her book in their curriculum.

Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity to write with a pro! Call the Children’s Room of the Lane Memorial Library at 926-4729 to register. Space is limited so call right away!
