Atlantic News, August 29, 2003

HAMPTON — Lane Memorial Library Children’s Librarian, Cindy Stosse has announced that Fall Story Times will begin again on Tuesday, September 23. Sign-ups begin on Wednesday, September 3.

The sessions will be for six weeks and will end with a week of Halloween celebrations through stories. Scheduled for Tuesdays and again on Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m. is the popular Toddler Story Time for ages 15-36 months. Joanne Mulready will have programs filled with stories, songs, snacks and creative movement. Each child must be accompanied by an adult.

On Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m., three-year-olds have a special time with stories, puppets and fingerplays. Cindy will be presenting these programs, most based in nature and always fun. Shelby Edwards will again be presenting the story times for the 4- to 6-year-old children on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and again at 1 p.m. The funny stories will be continuing along with crafts and special presentations. A book group will also be forming for older readers.

The success of the summer groups will carry over into the fall with more exciting, new titles to share. On Thursday, September 25, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a program presented by the College for Lifelong Learning concerning healthy fast-food. Parents will be amazed at the information in this program. Please call the Children’s Room at 926-4729 for more details.

Special programs are being planned for November and December; additional details will be available in October and in the next newsletter.

Special book bags which have been provided by the Family Resource Connection and the NH State Library are currently available at the library. These kits are designed by age and for family sharing. Ten books have been specially chosen for this project. Many of the titles are available individually at the library, but to have them in one bag makes it exciting.

Many new titles have been added to the collection in the Children’s Room. If there is a special book that is not on the shelf, please make a recommendation and the library will consider adding it to the collection. Ask for details in the Children’s Room. And, don’t forget about the annual Birthday Book Club — a special book for a special day is more than special!
