HAMPTON -- The town's Planning Board voted last week to allow a change of use request for a nanobrewery to be located in the Seacoast Plaza on Route 1, occupying a section of the now-defunct Brothers North Restaurant.
Owner Michael Benoit said the name of his nanobrewery will be Blue Lobster Brewing Co.
Benoit and his wife, Roberta, have been brewing beer for 30 years.
The proposed establishment at 845 Lafayette Road would feature small-batch specialty brews, as well as more traditional beers, served in a tasting room.
Nanobreweries were approved by the state Legislature last year. House Bill 262 established a nanobrewery license for businesses that manufacture up to 2,000 barrels of beer and also established a revised fee structure that is separate from fees for larger breweries.
