HAMPTON - George R. Warren, 72, of 9 Ann's Terrace, died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, at his home after a lengthy illness.
He was born Dec. 1, 1931, in Everett, Mass., the son of the late Alexander and Lucy (Janes) Warren. He moved to Hampton in 1958 while stationed at Pease Air Force Base.
He was a 1949 graduate of Everett High School.
He served in the United States Air Force for 22 years until his retirement as a chief master sergeant in 1972. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and also served in England, New York, Maine, Newfoundland and Okinawa.
Mr. Warren was the facilities manager of Sacred Heart School and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Parish for 21 years.
He was a member of the Hampton's American Legion Post 35.
He was an avid reader, and enjoyed genealogy and being with his family.
The widower of Mildred H. (Murphy) Warren, his wife of 39 years who died in 1993, he is survived by three daughters, Patricia L. Warren of Hampton, Wendi L. Morgan of Rochester and Terri A. Warren of Hampton; one grandson; his extended family Joan C. Mackle and Karen E. Nightingale both of Hampton and Timothy J. Morgan of Rochester; two brothers, John C. Warren of Saugus, Mass., and James Warren of Reno, Nev.; and several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by one brother, Donald Warren; and two sisters, Barbara Edmonds and Anna Tower.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
