HAMPTON -- Jean F. Sawyer, 72, of 23 Dearborn Ave., died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at home.
She was born Nov. 23, 1932, in Newburyport, Mass., the daughter of the late C. Francis and Mary M. (Buckley) Kelleher. A 1950 graduate of Newburyport High School, she was raised in Newburyport and had resided in New Castle and Portsmouth before coming to Hampton in 1966.
Mrs. Sawyer worked several years during the 1950s for the City of Newburyport's Water Department. In recent years, she had been a substitute teacher and teacher's aide at the Centre School in Hampton.
Family members include her husband of 42 years, Richard W. Sawyer, of Hampton; two sons, Stephen R. Sawyer of New York City and Kevin P. Sawyer of Hampton; two daughters, Paula J. Tallarico of Merrimack and Vickie M. Sawyer of Hampton Beach; three grandchildren, Christian and Rhianne Tallarico, and Tysson Sawyer Yuan; three brothers, John Kelleher and Joseph Kelleher of Amesbury, Mass. and David Kelleher of Laguna Beach, Calif.; two sisters, Maureen Miner of Salisbury, Mass., and Rose Shalom of West Brookfield, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Daniel Kelleher.
WE REMEMBER: She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and a member of Ocean Side Grange. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren, taking long walks with her dog, Beagle, and listening to late-night talk radio. She was an active supporter of the American Cancer Society, participating in their walks and as a fund-raising volunteer.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 10, at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 289 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The family request there be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833 or the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701. Arrangements are by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory.
