RAYMOND -- Edith E. Hammond, 95, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at her home in Raymond.
She was born April 19, 1915, in Raymond, the daughter of the late William R. and Ida K. (Carew) Hammond, and was a lifelong resident of Raymond.
She was a 1933 graduate of Raymond High School and a 1934 graduate of Plymouth Business School, Portsmouth.
Miss Hammond was the secretary for the Superintendent of Schools, SAU #53, Raymond-Pembroke Union, from 1934 to 1947; secretary for the principal of Concord High School from 1947 to 1954; executive assistant to superintendent of schools, Hampton SAU #21, from 1954 to 1975; and treasurer — manager of Seacoast Federal Credit Union in Hampton from 1974 to 1989.
She was a member of Raymond United Methodist Church.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Mattie and Annie Hammond, and two brothers, Lewis and Lyman Hammond.
WE REMEMBER: She was a 65-year member of the Grange (Raymond Grange #213 until it disbanded and then Oceanside Grange #260 in Hampton); a member of Governor Bachelder Pamona and N.H. State Granges; honorary member of Raymond Historical Society; member of N.H. Historical Societies Association; Life Member of the Southeastern N.H. Mineral Club; Eastern Federation and American Federation of Mineralogical Societies; Southeastern N.H. Retired Educators Association; N.H. Retired Educators Association; life member of the National Education Association; past president of the National Association of Educational Office Professionals, 1960 to 1962; life member and past president of the N.H. Association of Educational Office Professionals from 1952 to 1954 and from 1972 to 1974, and honorary member; honorary member of Vermont Association of Educational Office Professionals; honorary member of AZ Association of Educational Office Professionals; and life member of the Edith E. Hammond Conference, sponsored by the N.H. Association of Educational Office Professionals and the N.H. Department of Education.
SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 15, at 11 a.m., in Raymond United Methodist Church, 51 Main St., Raymond. Private burial will be in Old Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.
